MARLOW TOWN REGATTA
Saturday 11th June 2011
A traditional rowing regatta best viewed from the "enclosure" on the banks of the Thames in Higginson Park.
What time are the gates open?
The enclosure is open from 07.30 until 19.30, with the bar opening at 10.00 and
closing at 18.00. Parking in the pre-reserved cricket ground area is available
from 07.00. The entrance to the car park is in Lower Pound Lane, off Pound Lane.
What time does the rowing begin?
There will be three divisions starting at approximately 08.00/11.30/15.00, with
no break for lunch and racing is not expected to continue beyond 18.30. This
format encourages competitors to race in more than one event and in some cases
to share boats.
What is the Saturday Dress Code?
For entry into the enclosure, we require that gentlemen be smartly dressed in
trousers (no shorts) with blazer or jacket with shirt and tie. Ladies should be
dressed smartly in a dress or skirt/trousers and top. Jeans/denim and trainers
are not permitted in the enclosure.
Can I buy a badge on the day?
Entry to the enclosure is by wearing the appropriate badge. No badges will be
available on the day.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
Your own food and drink can be consumed in the reserved car park/picnic ground
area if you have pre-booked a space. Because of fire safety considerations, no
barbecues are allowed in the park. No food or drink can be taken into or out of
the enclosure. Security personnel at the entrance are instructed to ensure that
no drink of any description is taken into the enclosure and bags etc. may be
checked.
What food and drink facilities are there?
Inside the enclosure is a bar, where alcoholic drinks are available to adult
badge holders (Age 18+). If you look under 21, you will be asked to prove your
age with either a passport or a driving licence, if you want an alcoholic drink.
The bar will open at 10.00 and will close at 18.00.
There will also be a number of food outlets both inside and outside of the
enclosure. In the park there is a café, a further café in Court Garden and all
the facilities of the High Street are a short walk away.
Where can I park my car?
The car park of choice is Riley Park (SatNav - SL7 2NL)
where the Riley Park Trust are making parking available within the park grounds,
at a fixed cost of £6 for any part of the day. Parking will be available from
08.00 and all cars must be removed by 20.00. The entrance is off Oxford Road,
and Higginson Park is an approximate 10 minute walk from the parking.
If you have not reserved a car park/picnic space on the cricket ground, there
will be very limited general parking available at a fixed fee of £6 for any part
of the day on the football ground in Higginson Park with the entrance in Lower
Pound Lane, off Pound Lane. Spaces cannot be reserved, so the earlier you enter
this car park, the greater is the chance of space being available. We anticipate
that this car park will be full before midmorning.
Can I bring my dog?
No dogs, other than assistance dogs, are allowed in the enclosure.
What are the conditions for Subscribers?
Subscribers must accept full responsibility for meeting the Saturday dress code,
both for themselves and their guests. Subscribers must also accept
responsibility for the behaviour of their guests whilst in the enclosure. All
guests under the age of 18 must wear an appropriate badge, under 11’s a Child
badge and 11-17’s a Junior badge.
We are supporting ‘Challenge 21’ and Regatta Subscribers and their adult guests,
who appear to be under the age of 21, will be requested to provide photographic
identification (normally a passport or a driving licence) at the entrance to the
enclosure and at the bar. Adult badge holders who appear to be under the age of
21, who cannot provide proof of their age may be refused entry to the enclosure
and no refunds will be available.
What is the Subscriber & Guest Behaviour Code?
We require Subscribers and their guests to respect the law in relation to
under-age drinking and the use of recreational drugs. A search policy in
relation to drugs, weapons and alcohol will be adopted at the enclosure
entrance. The use of offensive language or threatening behaviour in the
enclosure will not be tolerated. Security personnel are instructed to expel
offenders and report all instances to the police without question.
